FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY

Joseph’s stunningly original and beautifully rendered images present a more personal expression of his artistry, revealing his profound relationship with all facets of the built environment. Wildly inventive, yet unpretentious, this critically acclaimed work has been extensively collected and exhibited.

THE DIANA CAMERA

A series of photographic images captured with a little plastic toy, the legendary DIANA camera. First produced in the early 1960s in Kowloon, Hong Kong, by the “Great Wall Plastic Factory”. Priced at one dollar, they were a novelty item, handed out as prizes at fairs, or carnivals. The manufacture of the original DIANA was discontinued in the 1980’s or 90’s.
All images, including sequenced and overlapping, multi-exposurepanoramas are created “in camera”. All exposures are un-cropped and and unedited, with no Photoshop “enhansements” employed.

SOME WORDS ON TRAINS

Joseph expresses a persistent interest in both classic film and un-manipulated digital photography, through which he addresses formal concerns, and experimental work, sometimes extreme in nature, exposing  his unconventional aesthetics”.

“Train Yard” series is an example of this work.

DERELICT WALLS

Recent work has centered around both representational and abstracted architectural remnants. Current efforts are directed at exploring the evocative beauty of surface and texture and the way stray words gain new power and meaning when context is revealed through relationship in a composition.
